mLED Receives £378K in Equity Funding

mLED, a Glasgow, UK-based developer of microLED technology, has received a £378k in equity funding.

The round was led by Braveheart Investment Group plc (BRH), with participation from the Scottish Enterprise Co-Investment Fund and members of both mLED’s board and technical advisory council.

The company intends to use the funding to increase its personnel, enhance its intellectual property and market its proprietary technology to initial customers.

Launched in June 2010 as a spin-out from the Institute of Photonics of the University of Strathclyde, mLED Limited is introducing a new generation of Light Emitting Diode (LED) technology – the ultra-high brightness micro-emitter array (microLED) – that is opening up major new segments within the nascent embedded pico projector market. Pico projectors can be found in a broad array of portable devices from bar code scanners to smartphones.
