LightSpeed Closes $30M Series A Funding with Accel Partners

LightSpeed, a Montreal and Ottawa, Canada-based provider of retail software systems, has closed a US $30m Series A funding with Accel Partners.

The company intends to use the capital to further hire new people (http://www.lightspeedretail.com/careers/), enhance its product portfolio and expand internationally.

Founded in 2005 by CEO Dax Dasilva. LightSpeed provides business owners with tools designed to turn Mac computers, iPads, and iPhones into sales and retail management tools.
The company’s solutions include interactive point-of-sale system for iPad, which give stores a personalized selling tool that scans inventory and details products. In addition, purchases can be made from a mobile device anywhere in the store. Retailers can also access to back office features including inventory management, sales/ordering workflows, e-commerce integrations, multi-store capabilities and developer-friendly open APIs.

Clients include nearly 10,000 retailers in more than 30 countries, ranging from boutiques to large global brands.
