BuildDirect.com, a Vancouver, B.C., Canada-based online destination for heavy weight building materials, has raised $16m in funding from OMERS Ventures, the venture capital investment arm of pension fund OMERS.
The company intends to use the funding to accelerate growth, expand its team and provide a more extensive product line for customers including professional trades, subcontractors and single users.
Founded in 1999 and led by CEO Jeff Booth, BuildDirect is an e-commerce company that focuses on the heavy building materials industry. It offers a predictive data-driven platform that allows shippers to bid in real-time and give customers the lowest possible freight costs.
The company also has eight warehouse locations in the US.
