Buddy Platform Raises $1M in Seed Funding

Buddy Platform, a Kirkland, Wash.-based provider of a Backend as a Service platform, raised $1m in seed funding.

The round was led by Transmedia Capital, with participation from Crestlight Venture Productions.

The company, which has concurrently released its platform and new APIs powered by partner Aviary.com, intends to use the capital to increase adoption of its solution and expand its relationships with major brands and agencies that publish apps for any operating system or connected device.

Led by CEO David McLauchlan, and CTO and chief architect Jeff MacDuff, Buddy Platform, provides developers with a fully hosted and managed toolset of web services to power the cloud-connected pieces of their apps on all operating systems including iOS, Windows Phone, Android, SmartTV, Facebook, HTML5 and Windows 8. Its APIs support user accounts, friends & group lists, messaging & chat, geo-location services, photo albums, metadata, gaming, push notifications and crash reporting. The company is offering free access to the Platform up to 2MM API calls per month, through July 31st, 2012.
