Wingu Inc., a Cambridge, MA-based developer of software designed to enhance the operational efficiency of pharmaceutical research and discovery, raised a Series A round of funding.
The round was led by Google Ventures, participation from Borealis Ventures.
The company intends to use the funding – whose amount was not disclosed – to expand its sales and product development efforts.
Led by CEO Nick Encina, Wingu developed the concept of Research Intelligence (RI) and will market a solution specifically designed to increase the pace and effectiveness of distributed research. Currently, a beta version of the solution is being used by top 10 pharmaceutical companies to make faster, more informed decisions.
Its software optimizes R&D by helping managers understand and respond to inefficiencies in their current projects, and build institutional knowledge.
