Essess, a Cambridge, MA-based provider of automated energy assessments for commercial and residential buildings, hs closed its $6m Series A funding round.
The round was led by Vocap Ventures, with participation from DFJ Athena, Minder Cheng, Richard Tsai and the company’s CEO, Storm Duncan.
With a technology originally conceived at the MIT Field Intelligence Laboratory, from where it was spun out in April 2011, Essess is a Big Data company addressing commercial and residential energy efficiency. Its high-resolution thermal imaging technology allows for the capture, identification and quantification of energy loss profiles for buildings. Essess is able to automatically generate tangible and actionable solutions to those inefficiencies along with the economics of each solution.
