Boundless Learning Raises $8M in Series A Funding

Boundless Learning, a Boston, MA-based service that connects students with high quality, openly licensed, and free educational content that has been created by educators and institutions over the last 20 years, has raised $8m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Venrock, with follow on participation from Kepha Partners, Founder Collective and Nextview Ventures.

Co-founded by CEO Ariel Diaz, CTO Aaron White and CMO Brian K Balfour, Boundless Learning works directly with the Open Educational Resources (OER) community to curate open content and create a free learning platform designed to save students money and help them learn more efficiently.

In a blog post (read here) CEO Ariel Diaz said that in late March, the company was sued by three of the world’s largest publishing companies for alleged copyright infringement.
“Don’t worry—we won’t let the fact that someone slipped a lawsuit in the punchbowl ruin our good time (we have a lot more punch)”, he added.

Boundless Learning is currently hiring (http://www.boundless.com/careers).
