Bonobos Receives $16.4M Investment; Launches Offline

Bonobos, Inc., a New York City-based large clothing brand launched on the internet in the United States, has closed a $16.4m funding.

The round led by Nordstrom (NYSE: JWN), with participation from Accel Partners and Lightspeed Venture Partners.

For Nordstrom, this miniority investment follows the recent acquisition (last March) of HauteLook, a venture-backed online retailer that offers flash sales on top fashion and lifestyle brands, .

Launched exclusively online in 2007, the company now intends to use the capital to extend offline. It will sell Bonobos clothing at Nordstrom full-line stores and on Nordstrom.com. Beginning in April, Nordstrom will carry two flagship product lines of Bonobos: the Washed Chinos in core khaki colors and colorful spring options, and the Bonobos Weekday Warriors, a collection of non-iron cotton trousers. In addition, some seasonal pants and shorts will be offered at select stores and online. The brand will launch at twenty of Nordstrom’s full-line stores* and within the Men’s Shop on Nordstrom.com.

Led by founder and CEO Andy Dunn, Bonobos is known for its energetic line of better-fitting men’s pants and today offers a full menswear line. The company is currently hiring (http://wehaveaprettygoodtime.squarespace.com/jobs-at-bonobos/).
