AVOS Systems Closes Series A Venture Capital Financing


AVOS Systems, Inc., a San Mateo, CA-based internet start up, has closed a Series A venture capital financing of undisclosed amount.

The round was led by New Enterprise Associates (NEA) and Google Ventures, with participation from Madrone Capital and China-based incubator Innovation Works.

The company intends to use the capital to hire new people and make strategic acquisitions.

Led by CEO Chad Hurley and Steve Chen, AVOS owns Delicious.com, Chinese version of the site, Mei.fm, and Zeen, a magazine discovery and creation platform, which is currently in development.

In conjunction with the funding, Alex Kinnier, Partner, NEA, will join the company’s boartd along with Gideon Yu, former YouTube and Facebook CFO, and current president of the San Francisco 49ers.

AVOS also has offices in Beijing, China and Dunedin, New Zealand.
