3Scan Receives $350K Grant

3Scan, a San Francisco, CA-based start up that pioneers novel microscope technology to develop 3-D digital reconstruction of brain tissue, received an up to $350k grant from the Thiel Foundation.

The foundation is awarding the funding through Breakout Labs, its new revolving fund to promote innovation in science and technology.

Led by Todd Huffman, Matthew Goodman, Megan Klimen and Cody Daniel, 3Scan uses the technology of the KESM (Knife Edge Scanning Microscope) to create three dimensional models of large volume tissue samples.
Apart neuroscience, applications include histology, and composite materials science.
