Thermedical Closes $1.5M Series A Funding

Thermedical, a Somerville, Mass.-based company developing proprietary thermal therapy equipment for numerous clinical conditions, has closed a $1.5m Series A funding.

The backer is Samuel H. Maslak, Sc.D., also chairman of the board of directors at Thermedical.

The company intends to use the capital for continued research and development, and additional patent filings, as well as 510(k) regulatory clearance from the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA).

Founded by Michael G. Curley, Ph.D., and Patrick S. Hamilton, Ph.D., Thermedical is developing preclinical prototypes for a Saline-Enhanced Radio Frequency (SERF™) ablation system for treating malignant solid tissue, such as liver cancer, and for difficult-to-treat cardiac arrhythmias, such as ventricular tachycardia (VT).
