A Switzerland-based affiliate of Sargas Capital (2FG:F) has acquired the majority control of Kontexto, a Canadian provideer of enterprise class software and services to digital media publishers and advertisers around the world.
The agreement consists of cash payments over time totaling $10,400,000 in exchange for 51% of the issued and outstanding shares of the company. In conjunction with the investment, Sargas has received a seat on the company’s Board of Directors.
The investment is designed to provide Kontexto with the resources to continue to grow market share through sales to media companies of its existing product suite and to expand to other vertical markets as well as new product lines.
Founded in 2009, the company offers its clients with a proprietary cloud based platform to collect, analyze and visualize large amounts of audience, competitor and social media data in real time.
Kontexto recently launched two new branded web services for digital media publishers and advertisers called publishflow(TM) and tagcert(TM) respectively.
In early 2010, it expanded its business development activities into the United Kingdom.
Earlier this year, the company secured $1.4m in funding from Akoranga AG (read here).
