Kaptur, a NYC-based developer of a social discovery platform for photos and videos, has raised $2m in Series A funding.
Backers include Archie Cox, Deb Meijer, John Quigley, Prakash Mishra, and Green Hat Partners.
The company intends to use the capital to further expand in the wedding vertical and to grow into adjacent consumer verticals (babies, vacations, families, sporting events, etc.), while expanding its product line to tablet, mobile, and television devices.
Launched in January 2011 by Tejpaul Bhatia and Vikash Mishra, the company is developing a social discovery space designed to allow people to find, organize, and share photos across various social media sites such as Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, and YouTube. Kaptur has already partnered with brands such as Beyoncé, David Guetta, Red Bull, EMI, Sony, WeddingWire and Vera Wang, among others.
The company will begin raising its series B financing early next year.
