Bluewater Bio International Raises £22.5M in Funding

Bluewater Bio International, a London, UK-based provider of innovative high-performance water and wastewater treatment technologies, raised £22.5m (approximately $36m).

Backers included Ombu Group and Hermes GPE Environmental Innovation Fund.

Founded in 2007 by CEO Daniel Ishag, Bluewater Bio provides a proprietary wastewater treatment process, called HYBACS, which uses naturally occurring bacteria to produce a high quality, odourless and re-usable water resource by removing harmful nitrates, phosphates and carbonaceous matter from a wide variety of domestic, agricultural and industrial effluents.
It is particularly suited to upgrading existing activated sludge plants for improved performance or to accept increased pollution loads.
Bluewater Bio also has offices in Busan in South Korea, China, and Bahrain, and partners in USA, Russia, Spain and South Africa.
