Nektoon Receives over $1.5M in Seed Funding

Nektoon AG, a Zurich, Switzerland-based developer of web-clipper and note-taking app Memonic, received over $1.5m in seed funding.

The investment was led by Alex Ott, founder of CrossContinental Ventures, with participation from Dr. Friedrich Georg Hoepfner, Andy Honess, Måns Hultman, Raul Vejar, and Paul Wahl.

The company intends to use the funding to launch a new personal digital research app Squirro, planned this spring (in a private beta).

Launched in 2009, Memonic is a mobile to desktop app that allows users to clip, save and share web content in a personal online notebook.

Now, Squirro – co-founded by Dr. Dorian Selz – will add content curation, bundled tools, community connections and personalized workspaces, also offering integration with Salesforce.com, SAP, Highrise and other enterprise applications.

In conjunction with the funding, Alex Ott will join Squirro’s board.
