WhipTail Secured Series B Funding

WhipTail, a Whippany, NJ-based maker of an all-flash enterprise class storage array, has secured a Series B round of funding of undisclosed amount.

The round was led by RRE Ventures, with participation from Ignition Partners and Spring Mountain Capital.

The company intends to use the capital to expand its sales and marketing efforts (in the U.S., Europe and Asia through hiring, strategic partnerships, reseller programs and marketing support to the channel), as well as for additional product development.

Led by CEO Dan Crain, WhipTail WhipTail has developed an all-flash enterprise storage array designed to address performance issues in data centers and reduce delays related to hard disk contention and access times.
Among the others, customers include AMD, The Pension’s Trust, Ohio.gov, Weichert and inVentiv Health.

In conjunction with the funding, Will Porteous, general partner of RRE, and Richard Fade, partner of Ignition, will join WhipTail’s board of directors.
