SuVolta Raises $17.6M in Venture Capital

SuVolta, Inc., a Los Gatos, California-based developer of semiconductor technologies that enable a reduction in IC power consumption, has raised $17.6m in venture capital funding.

Backers include new investor Bright Capital, as well as existing investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, August Capital, New Enterprise Associates, Northgate Capital, DAG Ventures and others.

The company intends to use the new capital to continue to develop its technologies for the most advanced semiconductor processes.

Led by president and CEO Bruce McWilliams, SuVolta develops and licenses scalable semiconductor technologies that enable semiconductor companies to obtain a significant reduction in IC power consumption without sacrificing performance. According to a written statement, its PowerShrink™low-power IC technology cuts chip power consumption by 50 to 90%.
