Sharecare Raises $14M in Equity Financing

Sharecare, an Atlanta, GA-based interactive health and wellness social platform, has raised $14m in equity financing.

Backers include Galen Partners and TomorrowVentures, LLC.

The company intends to use the funding to accelerate the development of its programs, services and tools.

Launched in 2010 by Chairman and CEO Jeff Arnold, Sharecare provides an interactive social Q & A platform designed to allow people to ask, learn and act upon questions of health and wellness.

Sharecare also acquired The Little Blue Book (TLBB), a database with over 400,000 physicians and 180,000 physician practices, from Galen Partners and a group of other investors in exchange for its  common stock.  The company now plans to migrate TLBB’s physicians to its digital platform, providing them with access to its suite of provider-focused products, such as digital business cards, lead generation and search optimization tools.

In conjunction with the funding, David Jahns, Managing Partner of Galen Partners, will join Sharecare’s Board of Directors.
