Francisco Partners Acquires Ichor Systems

San Francisco, CA-based, technology-focused private equity firm Francisco Partners acquired Ichor Systems, a Tualatin, Ore.-based global designer and manufacturer of process tools, gas delivery modules and chemical delivery modules, for an undisclosed sum.

The investment is expected to provide Ichor with the resources needed to expand its market leadership.

Founded in 1999 led by CEO David Shimmon, the company Ichor Systems designs and manufactures products and systems for purchased by original equipment manufacturers for use in the semiconductor, light emitting diode, alternative energy, data storage and flat panel display markets. Its tools and modules are used to produce light emitting diodes, microelectronic semiconductor chips, solar panels, superconductor wire and thin film magnetic heads by enabling the precise application of numerous specialty gases, liquids and chemicals.

The company has more than 700 employees strategically located across its manufacturing facilities in Oregon, Texas, New York, Massachusetts, Colorado, Singapore, and Malaysia. Ichor’s sales and engineering offices are based in Taiwan and Silicon Valley, California.
