Bluefin Labs Raises $12M in Series B Funding

Bluefin Labs, a Cambridge, MA-based social TV analytics company, has raised $12m in a Series B funding.

The round led by Time Warner Investments, with participation from new investor SoftBank Capital and existing investors Redpoint Ventures and Lerer Ventures.

The company intends to use the new funding to increase its sales and client services efforts as well as invest in technology and R&D.

Founded by Deb Roy and Michael Fleischman in 2008, Bluefin Labs first provides Bluefin Signals, an analytics platform that analyzes and organizes social media conversations about US national television. Clients include television networks, marketers and agencies such as CBS, Fox, Discovery Communications, MediaCom, MTV Networks, Starcom MediaVest Group, etc..

In conjunction with the funding, Rachel Lam, senior vice president and group managing director of Time Warner Investments will join the company’s board of directors.
