Avinger Closes $22.5M Series C Funding

Avinger, Inc., a Redwood City, CA-based medical device manufacturer of innovative, multi-functional catheters for treating patients with Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), closed a $22.5m Series C funding round.

All existing major investors participated in the round. New investors contributed approximately $6m.

The company intends to use the funding to further US and EU commercialization of its Wildcat, Kittycat and Ocelot catheters.

Founded in 2007 by cardiologist and medical device entrepreneur John B. Simpson, CEO, Avinger develops catheter-based technologies for the treatment of peripheral artery disease (PAD) incorporating Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), an advanced imaging technology.
