955 Dreams Inc., a Mountain View, CA-based mobile publishing company, has closed a $3.25m seed funding.
The round was led by 500 Startups, and m8 Capital, with participation from Kapor Capital, Felicis Ventures, and CrunchFund.
The company intends to use the capital to continue to expand its product range, expand onto other mobile OSs, and expand its global footprint.
Founded by CEO Kiran Bellubbi and and CDO T.J. Zark, 955 Dreams focuses on creating magazines that users can read on their mobile devices and partners with content providers to build engaging mobile products for consumers.
Using their proprietary publishing platform, the company has launched three titles into the iTunes AppStore since 2010:
– The History of Jazz,
– On the Way to Woodstock and
– Band of the Day (http://www.bandofthedayapp.com).
In conjunction with the funding, Dave McClure of 500 Startups will join the company’s board.
