Zeis Excelsa Receives €20 Investment from Fondo Italiano di Investimento

Zeis Excelsa SpA, a Montegranaro, Italy-based shoe and apparel manufacturer and supplier, has received a €20 investment from Fondo Italiano di Investimento.

Fondo Italiano will acquire a minority stake in the company through a capital increase and a convertible loan.

Founded in 1948 by the Pizzuti family and led by CEO Maurizio Pizzuti, Zeis manufactures proprietary brands including Cult, Sonora, Docksteps, etc., and Lofu and distributes brands such as Harley Davidson, Samsonite Footwear, Merrell, Patagonia, Dirk Bikkembergs, and Sabelt. In May 2011, the company has acquired Dirk Bikkembergs.

Zeis Excelsa intends to use the proceeds to grow organically during the next years, expand its Retail channel and the Dirk Bikkembergs brand to woman and kid collections.

The company currently employs 630 people in its facilities in Italy, Slovakia, and Romania, and has an expected turnover of approximately €140m in 2011.
