Kirona Group Secures Significant Investment from LDC

Kirona Group, an Alderley Edge, Cheshire, UK-based mobile application software developer, has secured a significant investment from mid-market private equity firm LDC.

The company intends to use the proceeds from the financing to continue its growth strategy, targeting under-penetrated sectors in the SME market. It also plans to capitalize on international opportunities following recent client wins in Europe, New Zealand and Canada.

Established in 2003 by former Oracle executives David Murray, Managing Director, and Neil Harvey, Kirona develops FFA solutions for a wide range of industries across the public and private sectors. Its software solutions, which are designed to maximize productivity and improve service levels by connecting clients, the office and field in near real time, integrate with all back-office systems and are compatible with all mobile operating systems, including Android, RIM, IOS and Windows, and all hardware devices. The company also offers a mobile cloud platform that enables customers to store and access data securely off site.
Kirona, which currently employs 33 people, including 20 software developers, provides its technology through resellers and distributors, including BT, Vodafone, IDOX PLC and Northgate Information Solutions, in addition to its own direct sales operation.

In conjunction with the investment, Investment Directors Jonathan Bell and Simon Braham of LDC will join the company’s board. Graham Gilbert, former Chairman and CEO of Computerland UK PLC, has been appointed as non-executive chairman.
