Fondo Italiano di Investimento and Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners to Invest in Italian SMEs

Italian public-private Fondo Italiano di Investimento and French private equity firm Edmond de Rothschild Investment Partners (EdRIP) have signed an agreement focused on development capital investments made by Winch Capital 2, a €250m fund supported by French leading institutions such as Caisse des Dépôt.

Under the terms of the deal, Winch 2 and Fondo Italiano will co‐invest €60m in Italian SMEs in order to allow them to grow internationally.

The initiative will be managed by private equity independent advisor Mast Capital Partners (already exclusive advisor to EdRIP in Italy) through a newly formed investment vehicle called Winch Italia.
Completed in November 2009, Winch Capital 2 acquires significant holdings (10 to 49%) investing between €5m and €20m in businesses with turnover between €5m and €250m.
