CellEra Raises $9.2M in Funding

CellEra, an Israeli-based developer of fuel cell technology, raised $9.2m in funding.

Backers included Vodafone Ventures, Carmel Ventures, Israel Cleantech Ventures, B-2-V Partners and private investors.

In conjunction with the funding, Ori Bendori, General Partner of Carmel Ventures, joined the company’s board.

Led by CEO Ziv Gottesfeld, CellEra has developed technology that enables the fabrication of Platinum-Free Membrane (PFM) fuel cells, which are designed to alleviate the major cost components of today’s fuel cells, including the use of platinum. The company’s introductory product is targeted at the telecommunications supplemental-power market, offering a clean alternative to lead-acid batteries and diesel generators.
