awe.sm Raises $4m in Funding

awe.sm, a San Francisco, CA-based platform for companies to harness social data, has raised $4m in funding.

The round was led by Foundry Group and GRP Partners, with participation from existing investor Neu Venture Capital and new investor kbs+p Ventures.

The company intends to use the capital to expand its team to develop additional platform features and extend the adoption of the platform to more developers globally.

Co-founded in 2009 by Laurie Voss and CEO Jonathan Strauss, awe.sm provides software developers with a cloud-based platform that allows them to add social-media performance tracking to their websites and online applications. Application developers can track which social media posts lead to pageviews, signups, purchases, and other business goals; and understand performance trends such as which users, social networks, or marketing campaigns had the most positive impact.
Customers include Groupon, Playdom, LocalResponse, and hundreds more companies.

In conjunction with the funding, Foundry Group Managing Director Ryan McIntyre will join the company’s Board of Directors.
