Quantenna Communications, a Fremont, Calif.-based fabless semiconductor company leader in Wi-Fi networking for whole home entertainment, has received a strategic investment of undisclosed amount from Telefónica Ventures, the venture capital division of Telefónica Digital.
In addition, Telefónica will have access to Quantenna’s technology for the deployment of high performance video services to the home.
The partnership and funding will enable the company to expand its product offering for carrier-grade wireless IPTV services globally, as it continues to strengthen its 4×4 MIMO technology leadership position.
Led by CEO Sam Heidari, Quantenna develops standards-based 802.11n MIMO chipsets that enable manufacturers to build products for delivering IPTV and other video streaming and data distribution services throughout the home over an ultra-reliable, high-performance Wi-Fi connection.
The company is also backed by Sequoia Capital, Venrock, Sigma Partners, Southern Cross Venture Partners, DAG Ventures, Swisscom Ventures, and Grazia Equity.
