OPIC Launches Call to manage Private Equity Investment Funds in Emerging Markets

The Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC), the U.S. Government’s development finance institution, launched a call for proposals to manage new private equity investment funds in emerging markets worldwide.
The initiative is expected to result in at least $400m in financing for sustainable development globally and mobilize more private sector investments.

The Global Engagement Call seeks fund managers to invest in new, expanding or privatizing companies in any of the emerging markets where OPIC operates and across industry sectors.
It will be open to private equity, debt, mezzanine, fund-of-funds and hybrid fund strategies.
The deadline is January 12, 2012.

Established as a development finance agency of the U.S. Government in 1971, OPIC aims to mobilize private capital to help solve critical development challenges and in doing so, advances U.S. foreign policy.
The institution serves new and expanding business enterprises in more than 150 countries worldwide.
