Aspiring Minds Raises Series A Funding

Aspiring Minds, a Gurgaon, India-based large employability assessment company, has raised Series A funding.

The round was led by Omidyar Network, with participation from Mr. DS Brar, who is chairman of GVK Biosciences, and former CEO of Ranbaxy.

The company intends to use the funds to extend its offerings to new verticals (in sectors such as BFSI, retail and hospitality industries) and expand to new geographies.

Founded by two IIT and MIT alumni with the mentorship of Professor Tarun Khanna, Aspiring Minds offers the Computer Adaptive Test (AMCAT), which provides standardized employability benchmarks to students and enables employers to evaluate students for effective job placement.
It is used by more than 75 companies including HCL, Sapient, Ericsson, ITC, SBI Life, Nokia, Keane, and Accor Hotels.

In conjunction with the funding, Jayant Sinha, Partner, Omidyar Network India, will join the company’s Board of Directors.
Co-Founder Himanshu Aggarwal is the Director of the company.
