Vtrim Raises $650K

Vtrim, a Middlebury, Vt.-based newly formed company that provides an online weight management program, has raised $650k in capital.

Backers include Vermont angel investor and Vtrim® alumnae Claudia K. Clark, and the Vermont Seed Capital Fund.

The company intends to use the funds to bring its treatment to the commercial market.

Led by CEO and Managing Director Krista M.C. Conley, Vtrim offers online weight-loss treatment to individuals, families, and businesses. The company began as a University of Vermont study measuring the effectiveness of online weight loss programs. In January 2011, University of Vermont and Conley signed an exclusive license agreement. Recently launched, Vtrim has already created six management positions and plans to hire additional staff in 2012.

Vtrim® Healthy Weight Management uses highly trained facilitators, most of which are registered dietitians and registered nurses, to lead an online 45-hour training program. The company also offer a follow-up course, Vtrim II, and an ongoing Maintenance Program.
