Typekit Acquired by Adobe Systems

Typekit Inc., a San Francisco, CA-based provider of hosted fonts for use on websites, has been acquired by Adobe Systems (Nasdaq:ADBE) for an undisclosed consideration.

Founded in 2008 by CEO Jeffrey Veen, President Bryan Mason, Head of Technology Ryan Carver and Product & Partner Development Greg Veen, Typekit offers, as a subscription-based cloud service, a vast font library fonts, from dozens of foundries, that gives designers and developers creative license to deliver type that enhances the web experience. The fonts are all licensed for legal use on the Web.

Typekit is currently used by more than 250,000 customers, including large sites such asThe New York Times, Condé Nast, IGN and many others.
