Tribeca Venture Partners, a New York-based newly formed seed and early-stage venture firm, has just launched.
Created by Brian Hirsch, previously a managing director at GSA Venture Partners, and Chip Meakem, previously a managing partner at Kodiak Venture Partners, Tribeca will focus on investing in advertising, e-commerce, education and financial tech companies based primarily in New York.
Somak Chattopadhyay, previously a principal at GSA Venture Partners, will join the firm as a partner.
The team will manage both the $100m GSA Venture Partners portfolio, which will be renamed Tribeca Venture Partners I LP., as well as a new fund, Tribeca Venture Partners II, which will hold a first close soon.
The new fund includes institutional capital and commitments from New York investors Brian O’Kelley, Stephen Messer, Jonathan Hsu, and Jacob Pechenik.
