Profi Rom Food Receives €10M Investment from Enterprise Investors

Profi Rom Food, a Romanian large food retail chain, has received a €10m investment from Enterprise Investors-managed Polish Enterprise Fund VI.

PEF IV controls 100% of Profi since 2010, when it acquired the chain in a €66m transaction.

The capital increase will finance the accelerated expansion of the company through new store openings and the acquisition of smaller supermarket chains in the country. Profi’s development plans include the opening of 6 new stores by the end of 2011 and at least 25 new stores in 2012. In addition to the development of new stores in the existing format and restructuring the existing ones, the company plans to implement a new 300-500 sqm store concept in towns with below 20,000 inhabitants.
The total investment of PEF VI may rise to €100 million in the coming years.

Led by General Manager Paweł Musial, Profi Rom Food currently operates 101 stores in 67 cities.
