MocoSpace Acquires Geocade

Boston, Massachusetts-based online gaming platform MocoSpace acquired Geocade, a location-based social games platform, for an undisclosed amount.

The acquisition will enable MocoSpace to continue to grow its community of gamer developers. Geocade will merge with MocoSpace’s platform to offer developers on both platforms the same features, as well as access to its large gaming audiences on mobile. The company has powered popular iOS and Android titles including Paper Toss, Rag Doll Blaster, Enigmo, Falling Balls and Space Ninja.

In conjunction with the transaction, eocade founder and CEO Jim Caralis will join MocoSpace as vice president of its HTML5 game platform. He will oversee the development of the game platform and its feature set, which now have location capabilities. They will be integrated into MocoSpace’s latest in-house game, Rise to Fame*, which is launching this week.

Commenting on the transaction, Justin Siegel, CEO of MocoSpace, said: “…thanks to Geocade, we plan to expand our leadership in the mobile HTML5 space with an ambitious roadmap for our platform”.

Founded in 2005, the company is backed by General Catalyst and Softbank Capital.
