Spreaker, a Bologna, Italy- and Menlo Park, CA-based online application for creating and sharing live audio content across the Internet, has closed a $1.1m angel funding round.
Investors include Italian Angels for Growth and ZernikeMeta Ventures.
The company intends to use the funds for product development and US expansion.
Co-founded in November 2009 by CEO Francesco Baschieri, Marco Pracucci, and Daniele Cremonini, Spreaker enables users to host personal radio shows that can be streamed live and listened through a widget which supports all the major social media and mobile platforms. It also allows casual podcasting on blogs and websites.
The company currently has an iPhone/iPad application for listeners and is planning to release an app for mixing and broadcasting in real-time.
