Spectrum Bridge Raises $8.8M in Series B Funding

Spectrum Bridge, Inc., a Lake Mary, Florida-based provider of software and services to wireless service providers and equipment manufacturers, has raised $8.8m in a Series B funding.

The company intends to use the funds for domestic and international commercialization and development efforts.

Backers include existing investors True Ventures, Telecommunications Development Fund (TDF) and Espírito Santo Ventures.

In addition, the company has announced the appointment of Rod Dir as President and CEO. Prior to Spectrum Bridge, Dir served as the COO of Firethorn LLC, Cincinnati Bell, and Powertel. Dir succeeds former CEO Richard Licursi, who will now represent the company as the Executive Chairman of the Board.

Founded in 2007, the company delivers software and services designed to enable wireless networks to access and use all types of spectrum via a database-driven cognitive network architecture. Spectrum’s products are embedded in subscriber devices and network equipment to more efficiently allocate bandwidth throughout the entire wireless network.
