RootMusic, a San Francisco, CA-based that has developed BandPage, the platform for musicians on Facebook, has closed a $16m Series B expansion round of funding.
The round was led by GGV Capital, with participation from new investor Northgate Capital and existing investor Mohr Davidow Ventures.
In conjunction with the funding, GV Partner Hany Nada will join the Board of Directors, which also includes Bill Ericson from Mohr Davidow, Larry Marcus and Robert Kavner.
Led by Founder and CEO J Sider, BandPage provides bands and artists across all genres with a solution to support and build their businesses online sharing music, videos, photos, tour dates and Twitter feed with their fans on Facebook on a page.
Launched less than a year and a half ago, it has grown to over 30 million monthly active users. Artists include Rihanna, Katy Perry, Arcade Fire, Bon Iver, and Kanye West as well as 250,000 bands around the world.
