Gekko Technology Receives £510K Investment from Midven

Gekko Technology, a Kenilworth, UK-based developer of an innovative range of LED lighting for the international film and television industry, has received a £510k investment from Midven’s Exceed – Midlands Advantage Fund.

The company intends to use the funds to continue to build the business, increase sales and undertake further research and development.

Led by managing director David Amphlett, who established the business in 2004, Gekko Technology produces white and colour-tunable LED-based luminaries for film, television, photographic lighting. Intelligent design, combined with high-quality components, ensures accurate, consistent and precisely-controllable colour-temperature.

Clients includes BBC, ITN, Sky Television, Channel 4, Channel 5, Associated Press and NBC (USA). Film credits include Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Mamma Mia, Golden Compass, Star Trek and on-location programmes such as Sky’s Ryder Cup coverage and BBC Waking the Dead.

The company currently employs 12 staff.
