Piazza, a Palo Alto, CA-based online Q&A platform for students and instructors, has raised $1.5m in seed funding.

Investors include Sequoia Capital, Felicis Ventures, Kapor Capital and SV Angel.

Founded in 2009 by  CEO Pooja Nath, Piazza is a free online collaboration dashboard that allows students and instructors to help each other find answers to complex questions in real time. The idea behind the platform is to find a remedy for students who were not given the intellectual space, freedom, or support to fulfill their educational potential or desire for learning.

According to the company, Piazza’s members spend two-to-four hours a night collaborating with classmates.

The company plans to launch on the Android platform.
