MoboTap Raises $10m in Series A Funding

MoboTap, a San Francisco, CA-based developer of a mobile web browser called Dolphin, will receive $10m in Series A funding.

The round was led by Sequoia Capital, with participation from Matrix Partners.

The company intends to use the funds for product development for Dolphin and expansion into new market segments.
Launched on the Android platform in March 2010, Dolphin is an intelligent mobile web browser that allows users to interact and engage with the web through mobile device in an intuitive way.

Led by CEO Yongzhi Yang, MoboTap has also announced the new version Dolphin Browser, version 6.0, which is already available via the Android Market worldwide.
New features include:
– Dolphin Gesture, a technology that intelligently allows users to open any website with a touch of fingertip.
– Dolphin Add-ons, which allow users to personalize Dolphin and enhance their browsing experience. – Dolphin Webzine, which displays web pages as a series of thumbnail images.
