True North Venture Partners has launched a $300m venture capital firm.
Founded by co-founder and former CEO of First Solar (NASDAQ:FSLR) Mike Ahearn, True North will focus on investing in early stage companies in the energy, water, agriculture and waste sectors.
Investments will generally range from $100,000 to $25m.
Before investing in First Solar, Mr. Ahearn helped to build a number of other successful companies as an early stage investor.
Chicago and Pheonix-based True North Venture, which is now assembling its team, has lready begun operations and expects to be fully staffed by the end of 2011.
