Canvas Raises $1.2M in Series B Financing Round

Canvas, a Reston, VA-based company that provides a platform that enables businesses to find, create, deploy and share mobile business apps for mobile devices, has closed the first $1.2m tranche of a $1.75m Series B funding round.

The round was led by Motorola Solutions Venture Capital, the strategic investment arm of Motorola Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:MSI).

The company intends to use the funds to continue to scale innovation, and expand its marketing efforts.

Founded in 2008 by CEO James Quigley,  Canvas offers a cloud-based solution designed to allow businesses to collect information using their mobile devices, analyze that data on the Canvas web site, and share information across their business community. In addition, the company has developed a store enabling businesses to find mobile applications that work on a wide variety of mobile devices, with every application being customizable by Canvas users. The store currently has over 750 apps across different verticals, including transportation & logistics, healthcare, retail & wholesale distribution, government, education, hospitality and manufacturing.
