Lumosity Raises $32.5M in Series C Financing

Lumosity, a San Francisco, CA-based company that leverages neuroscience to create exercises designed to improve brain performance, has raised $32.5m in Series C financing.

The round was led by Menlo Ventures, with participation from existing investors FirstMark Capital, Harrison Metal and Norwest Venture Partners.

The company intends to use the funds to broaden its R&D efforts and create a better user experience across its web and mobile offerings.

Launched in 2007 by neuroscientists from Stanford University including CEO Kunal Sarkar, Lumosity.com offers personalized training programs designed to improve core cognitive abilities such as working memory, visual attention and fluid intelligence. The company currently has research collaborations underway with over 25 academic institutions, over 14 million members and paying subscribers from 180 countries.
