Firespotter Labs, a Mountain View, Calif.-based business accelerator, launched with $3m in funding from Google Ventures.

The company plans to invest the funds in operations and scaling the business.

In conjunction with the funding, Wesley Chan, Partner, Google Ventures, will join Firespotter’s board.

Founded by Google Ventures Entrepreneur in Residence Craig Walker, former Google Voice engineers Brian Peterson and John Rector, and Alex Cornell, Firespotter intends to develop ideas and create products “for mass markets that impact people’s lives” and trasform the most promising ones in new companies.
