Benzinga Raises $1.5M from Lightbank

Benzinga, a financial media source that delivers streaming news, trading ideas, commentary and analyst ratings, has closed a $1.5m first funding round with Lightbank.

The company intends to use the funds to add personnel and develop media technology tools.

Led by founder and CEO Jason Raznick, Benzinga began operation in the spring of 2010 and has expanded its offerings with the introduction of Benzinga Professional, a premium service providing real-time news and audio feed, as well as a suite of premium financial products.
In addition Benzinga earns revenue through subscriptions, advertising, and content licensing.

Benzinga has offices in Delaware, Michigan and Chicago.

Lightbank is the investment fund focused on early-stage technology companies founded by Eric Lefkofsky and Brad Keywell.
