Zencoder Secures $2M in Funding

Zencoder, a San Francisco, CA-based provider of cloud-based video encoding solutions, has secured $2m in funding.
Investors include Andreessen-Horowitz, Ignition Partners, SV Angel, Lowercase Capital, Founder’s Collective, 500 Startups, Matt Cutts, James Lindenbaum, Orion Henry, Adam Wiggins, Wolfgang Buehler, Mike Bollinger, and Neil McClements.
The company intends to use the capital to continue to develop its technology.
Zencoder’s products enable content providers to deploy Internet video to consumers on virtually any Internet connected device. Built with Javascript and CSS, its VideoJS HTML5 Video Player (available for free download at http://videojs.com/) works on all major HTML5 platforms for both web and mobile, and automatically reverts to Flash if HTML5 video is not supported.
Founded in 2010 by CEO Jon Dahl, Brandon Arbini, and Steve Heffernan, the company serves customers such as PBS Television, TwitVid, Posterous and College Humor.
