The UK2 Group, an international web hosting provider, has been acquired by LDC in partnership with its management team for £47m.
Phil Male, previously CSO at Cable & Wireless Worldwide and COO of Thus Group plc, has joined the company as executive chairman. Working with the existing management, he will focus on driving the launch of new services and on growing the business organically and through acquisitions.
Outgoing CEO Ditlev Bredahl will focus on his role as CEO of OnApp, which has developed a Cloud deployment and management software designed specifically for the hosting industry.
Established in 1997, the UK2 Group provides domain name registration and web-site hosting services to customers globally through different brands, from data centres in the UK and the US.
The company has offices in London and Utah and employs over 200 staff.
