SilverRail Technologies Raises $5M

SilverRail Technologies, a Boston, MA- and London, UK-based provider of a platform for passenger rail ticketing, has raised $5m in funding.
This round was led by PAR Capital, with participation from Sutter Hill, Grandbanks Capital, Brook Ventures and Accel Partners.
The company intends to use the funds to expand the platform in terms of capacity – to integrate with new rail carrier inventory systems – and content.
Founded in 2009 by Aaron Gowell (CEO) and Will Phillipson (EVP Product Strategy), SilverRail provides a technology platform that is designed to enable distribution partners connect with each other enabling the consolidation of global rail into a single system, removing the complexity of selling rail, irrespective of the operators, geographies and currencies. It is currently connected to UK rail, Amtrak in the USA, Via Rail Canada and the rail system in the Benelux countries, with several new supplier connections in process.
