IndexTank Raises $1.6M Seed Funding

In Q1 2011, IndexTank, a San Francisco, Calif.-based real-time, hosted search API for developers, raised a $1.6m seed round of funding.
The round was led by Michael Dearing of Harrison Metal and Steve Anderson of Baseline Ventures, with participation from Freestyle Capital, K9 Ventures, Patagonia Ventures, Wenceslao Casares, Paul Gauthier, Mike Hennessey, Dave Hersh, Othman Laraki, Ben Smith and Tim Stevens.
The company has been using the funds to build out its development team and expand the core functionality of its search platform technology, which is designed to enable developers to import datasets from APIs and databases and use them to build or test application ideas.
IndexTank features include real-time feed indexing, instantaneous availability of search data, geo search, automatic faceting, range search for e-commerce and insights about the applications indexed data.
In conjunction with the funding, Mr. Dearing joined CEO Diego Basch, and co-founder Manolo Espinosa,  on the company’s Board of Directors.
